Born and brought up in London, England, by hard working, first generation parents who migrated from India in the 1960s, Dr Goawalla studied medicine at Guy’s & St Thomas’ medical school (Formerly UMDS and now part of King’s College, London). After qualifying as a doctor in 1999, she went on to pursue a career as an eye surgeon. She completed most of her post-graduate surgical training at the world renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. She then went on to further specialise as an oculoplastic surgeon through fellowships undertaken in Brighton and Cardiff, Wales. She also intercalated a Batchler’s degree in Immunology from the University of London whilst at medical school and a completed Master’s degree in Surgical Education from Imperial College, London, whilst completing her specialisation as an ophthalmic and oculoplastic surgeon. In more recent years, she has additionally sub specialised in neuro ophthalmology. Dr Goawalla has been a consultant ophthalmologist since 2013. She has established private practices at The London Clinic, Harley street, and at the Cromwell Hospital in Kensington. She also consults with private patients at her NHS base, The Western Eye hospital (part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust
